Sustainability Goals

At The Countryside Kitchen, we believe that small actions in our communities can contribute to solving some of the world’s biggest challenges. That’s why our mission, values, and everyday work are closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a shared global blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Through our immersive, farm-based workshops and community programmes, we’re proud to support the following SDGs in a very real, grounded, and impactful way:

SDG 1: No Poverty

We address rural and family poverty by offering funded and subsidised workshops to families, schools, and individuals who might not otherwise have access to fresh food, outdoor education, or wellbeing services. By equipping people with cooking skills, food-growing knowledge, and budget-friendly meal inspiration, we empower them to make healthier, more sustainable choices that stretch further.

SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing

From mindfulness yoga and nature walks to wholesome, seasonal meals, our workshops promote mental and physical wellbeing. We provide practical tools for reducing stress, improving nutrition, and making time for self-care, particularly for those living in high-pressure or isolated environments, such as busy parents or those in farming communities.

SDG 4: Quality Education

We deliver hands-on, field-to-fork education that brings the curriculum to life. From seed to plate, children and adults learn where food comes from, how to grow it, how to cook it, and why it matters. Our fully funded primary school visits provide life-changing access to green spaces and outdoor learning for children who rarely experience life beyond the classroom.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

As a community interest company, we create meaningful employment and training opportunities in sustainable food, farming, and education. We support local suppliers, artisans, and educators—ensuring that every pound spent with us circulates through the local economy, creating rural resilience and growth.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

We are passionate about creating inclusive experiences that welcome and support underrepresented or disadvantaged groups—from inner-city schools and families in poverty, to people living with hidden health conditions. Our accessible workshops build confidence, belonging, and equity in food and farming.

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

By showing people how to grow and cook seasonal produce, we support stronger, more resilient communities—rural and urban alike. Our partnerships with local schools, councils, businesses, and organisations ensure that more people have the skills and confidence to live sustainably, wherever they call home.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

We champion low food miles, seasonal eating, and zero-waste cookery. Our ingredients are grown, raised, or foraged right here on the farm. We teach participants how to shop and cook more consciously, reducing food waste and over-reliance on highly processed products.

SDG 13: Climate Action

From composting and carbon-conscious cooking to regenerative farming and foraging, our sessions help people understand their role in tackling climate change. We offer practical, everyday ways to reduce impact—empowering individuals and organisations to act for the planet.

SDG 15: Life on Land

We promote and protect biodiversity through our growing practices, orchard conservation, and nature-led education. Visitors learn to respect wildlife, plant life, and the soil that sustains us. We celebrate traditional farming methods and nature-friendly land stewardship as vital tools for long-term sustainability.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We work with schools, universities, councils, social enterprises, health providers, and ethical businesses to amplify our collective impact. Every time a business joins one of our wellbeing sessions, they’re directly funding school visits and community workshops—turning CSR into meaningful, measurable change.
